Here are a few of my work experiences related to my field.
I currently work as an ECE at the YWCA Regina Childcare Centre. I work with children from ages 1 – 8 years old. I look after children while they go about their daily routines at the childcare centre including providing meals, assisting with naps, monitoring free play, designing crafts, reading/storytelling, etc. This has given me great experience working directly with children in a setting very similar to school. This job has truly reignited my passion for teaching and working with children of all ages.
I have previously worked at Regina Montessori Schools. I worked as an EA in classrooms with children from age 2 – 10 years old. This was such an amazing experience as I got to really see an approach to teaching that I hold at high value, in practice. Montessori is a truly amazing approach to education and working in these schools was so inspiring for me. It was so great to see children of a variety of ages and skill levels really be self motivated in their own development and each child’s natural desire for knowledge, understanding, and respect being nurtured. I learned so many practices here that I will bring into my future classroom.
More to come…
Throughout the completion of my degree, there will be more field experiences that I will take part in before beginning my career.
